Koye E. Nielson

December 5, 1930 ~ September 27, 2015 (age 84) 84 Years Old
Koye Nielson, 84, Pocatello, passed away, September 27, 2015. She was born on Dec. 5th 1930 in Filmore, UT to John & Virginia Edwards. Her family moved a lot until they bought a home when she was six. They didn’t have much but it was a happy home. Her parents had a team of horses and a wagon. They raised everything they ate. She was taught the Ten Commandments and tried to live them. Koye graduated from Millard High School in 1949. She moved to Pocatello in the fall and went into nurses training at St. Anthony Hospital & ISU where she met Dean. They were married on Ground Hog’s day, Feb. 2nd, 1951. Dean never forgot their anniversary. Koye was very involved in scouting and received her Silver Beaver. She traveled with her husband and went to all the continents and states. She was a stay at home mom. Her home was open to anybody who needed a place to stay or something to eat. Her motto was “keep it simple, keep it fun.” She always said she came to Earth to play but grown ups forget how to play, so she played with her children and scouts. She always had a joke to tell you too. She is survived by daughters DeAnn (Jay) Findlay of Bow, WA and Karryl (Paul) Horstmeier of Alpine, UT; and her son Douglas (Margaret) Nielson of Pocatello, ID. She has ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouse Dean; and two sons, Richard & Michael. Memorial Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Mountain View Cemetery (Section 36 East), Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com, Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542.
