Stephen Neil Allen

September 22, 1930 ~ August 19, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old
Stephen Neil “Moose” Allen
Stephen Neil “Moose” Allen, 85, returned to live with his Heavenly Father on August 19, 2016, at Quinn Meadows, in Pocatello, Idaho.
Neil was born, the 11th of 11 children, on September 22, 1930 to Lois and Lewis Allen in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. His father died when Neil was 14, and he worked at odd jobs in Glenns Ferry, trying to earn extra money to help his mother. They moved to Pocatello, Idaho when Neil was 17 and he graduated from Pocatello High School in 1949. Neil met his eternal sweetheart, Beverly Fern Curtis, at Pocatello High School. Neil and Beverly were married on July 27, 1950 in Pocatello, Idaho. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 21, 1951. Neil and Beverly shared 66 years together, in Pocatello, and have been a great example to their family and friends.
Neil and Beverly raised their family in Pocatello. Neil was a great father and a great example to his five children, 19 grandchildren, and 48 great-grandchildren. The greatest thing he did for his children was to love their mother.
Neil and Beverly lived in several homes in the Pocatello area, but it was always Neil’s dream to own a house on the golf course. In 1991 they built their home on the #2 Fairway. He even had a golf cart garage in the back of the house. Neil has always been very athletic. Their family spent many hours watching Dad play basketball and fast-pitch softball. He was a pitcher and played in city league teams as well as many church softball and volleyball teams, some ending with all-church tournaments in Salt Lake City. Neil loved to golf and shared his love with his sons, as well as sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and many of his grandchildren.
In their early married life, Neil worked at Idaho Wholesale. He started his own food brokerage business, Neil Allen Food Brokerage, Inc., on January 2 1971, selling food and grocery items throughout Idaho, Utah, and Montana. Through his associations in his business he built lifelong friendships as he traveled and sold his products. Because of his great selling abilities, he and Beverly traveled the world compliments of the companies he represented.
Neil loved to cook and could often be found behind his big grill, with his “Moose” apron on, cooking for family groups, church groups, and friends. He loved to serve others and his service affected many lives. He loved his church service and loved the people he served. Neil served in many different callings, including Bishop of the 28thth ward and as a High Counselor in the Alameda Stake. He also served as a Stake Patriarch in the University 1st Stake. Neil and Beverly faithfully served in the Idaho Falls temple for 27 years. Eighteen of those years, Neil was a sealer. He is remembered by the many couples whom he sealed. Neil was able to perform the eternal marriages of 12 of his grandchildren.
Neil was a friend to everyone and has made lasting friendships with many people. He will be greatly missed.
Neil is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Beverly, Children, Steve (Kay) Allen, of South Jordan, UT, Terri (Steven) Allbright, of Pocatello, Sharon (Dee) Anderson, of West Jordan, UT, Dave (Debbie) Allen, of Spanish Fork, UT, Carol (Scott) Cooper, of West Valley, UT, 19 Grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
Neil is preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
Neil’s family will receive friends and family at a viewing from 6-8 PM on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 No 15th Ave, Pocatello, ID.
