Vivian Cody Obituary

On Wednesday, April 23, 2024 our loving mother of eight children, passed away at age 94. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.

Vivian was born on October 27, 1929 in Little Rock, AR to Lillie Perry and Moses Dixon. She was raised by her maternal grandparents Frank and Cora Perry. She attended her early years of schooling in Little Rock, AR, Claremore, OK and Denver, CO. On December 25, 1942 she arrived in Pocatello, ID with mother and step-father Alfred Vann. She attended Franklin Jr. High and Pocatello High School receiving her GED later on in life. On July 2, 1947 she married Morris Benny Cody. They raised three daughters and five sons.

She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Missionary Church for 81 years serving wherever needed. She was an avid bowler starting in 1965 where she was well known on the bowling circuit up until her failing health. She had a passion for cooking turning something into a gourmet meal. Her arts and crafts were known to all who met her with her providing them with a token of her love and passion of her craft. She could take a piece of yarn, material, beads, etc and turn them into extraordinary pieces of art.

Vivian was preceded in death by her mother, father, grandparents, brother (Alfred Vann), grandchild (Kaithlyn Cody) and great grandchild (Manti Harris).

She is survived by her eight children Corrine Robertson Robert), Bennie Hannon, Lillian Cody, Morris Cody, Jr. Lisa), Clarence Cody (Tonda), Payton Cody (Gyuja Wee), Willie Cody, Tony Cody, her sister Alfreda Vann, brother Presley Vann (Debbie), sister-in-law Karen Whitner, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her adopted son Chris Lewis (Christine) and many friends.

A Viewing will be held May 2, 2024 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Cornelison Funeral Home.

Graveside Service May 3, 2024 11:00 pm at Mountain View Cemetery.

Celebration of Life/Repast May 4, 2024 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Bonneville Community Center 427 North 6th Pocatello, ID.
