Trevis Powell Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, son and brother Trevis Wade Powell passed away suddenly in his home in Pocatello, Idaho on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. He was 53 years old. Trevis was born on February 10, 1967 to Jimmy and Gloria Powell in Pocatello, Idaho. He was the fourth and final child. His mother said she went to the hospital and 13 minutes later, Trevis was born. Trevis graduated from Pocatello High School in 1985. Throughout his high school years, Trevis loved playing sports, especially football and baseball. He made many good friends in school that he was still in contact with today. As a senior in high school, Trevis got an internship with Lee Aikins Sport Shop. This was one of his all-time favorite jobs and fed his lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, camping and shooting that he had developed from childhood. He loved nothing more than taking his family outdoors any chance he got.
On October 6, 2000 Trevis’ whole life was changed for the better with the birth of his son Christopher Nolan. At the time he was working for Red Wing Shoes and had the opportunity to move to Portland, Oregon and manage a Red Wing Store. He married Lisa Elder on February 26, 2001 and they moved their family to Portland. He and Lisa divorced in March of 2003 and Trevis moved home to Pocatello with his son. He lived with his mother, who was his best friend, biggest ally and biggest help in raising his young son. In January 2005, Trevis was set up on a blind date at Stake Conference. He met Kim Clark, and on October, 18, 2008 Trevis and Kim were married in Parma, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized a year later in the Boise, Idaho Temple and they were sealed to Chris for time and all eternity. On February 23, 2011 they were blessed again with their second son, Hunter Trevis James.
Along with Lee Aikins sport shop and Red Wing Shoes, Trevis also worked as a painter at Frazer Industrial, in sales at Portneuf River Outfitters and as a security guard at Hoku. Due to injuries sustained in his youth playing sports, Trevis had several health issues with his legs and arms and in 2014 he was able to become a stay at home dad. This was a wonderful opportunity for Trevis and his boys to grow closer together.
Trevis loved his wife and sons and never passed up an opportunity to tell them how much they meant to him. His mom was his best friend, he called her daily to check on her and make sure she was well. He has many friends in Pocatello and rarely left the house without seeing someone he knew and saying hello. He will be greatly missed. Trevis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
He is survived by his wife, Kim; his sons Chris and Hunter, his mother Gloria and his siblings Robin (Dave) Barrett, James Powell and Nathan Powell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, to whom he was larger than life. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Powell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 AM at Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N 15th Ave., Pocatello. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services. A graveside service to be held at a later date.
