Shonna Kay Dannunzio, 64 passed away January 13, 2022 following a bout with cancer. Her husband and daughter-in-law were by her side as she passed away peacefully, at her residence in Pocatello, within minutes of a visit with family members. She was born September 23, 1957. The only daughter to the late Ronald and Carol Hancock of Pocatello, Idaho.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years John Dannunzio, daughter Jennifer Kay Caldwell, son John Patrick (Chancey) Dannunzio, 6 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.
She graduated from Highland High School in 1975 and attended Nursing School at Cochise Community College in Bisbee, Arizona in 1986. She was married to her husband John on June 28, 1978 and later sealed to him in the Idaho Falls Temple June 23, 2012. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
While she did not serve in the military, she was a faithful Army spouse for 8 years, living in Georgia, Maryland, Arizona and just under 4 years in the Federal Republic of Germany during the height of the Cold War.
Shonna grew up camping, fishing, and gardening, these outdoor passions carried throughout her life, and were passed down to her grandchildren. Shonna and John spent the latter 20 years in Idaho, Montana and New Mexico going on adventures with their travel trailer and dog Jack. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and would do anything for them. Shonna impacted the lives of all those whom she touched. Her bright spirit radiated positivity, encouragement, and comfort. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 18th at 1pm in the LDS Ward 3444 Hawthorne Rd., Pocatello. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery Section 55W.
