Vancouver, WA. Ronald Ludvig Nielsen, 78, passed away peacefully March 6, 2020 at Peace Health Medical Center due to complications of pulmonary fibrosis. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful care providers who assisted Ron in so many ways.
Ron was born in November 1941 to Ludvig and Thella Nielsen in Brigham City, Utah. Ron married Cora “Jane” Brian and together they have shared a wonderful life together raising 4 children. Andrea (David) Peterson, Brian Nielsen, Kevin (Dawn) Nielsen, Ronda (Kenneth) Nielsen-Ward. Ron’s posterity also includes 12 grandchildren that always carried a special place in his heart.
He is proceeded in death by his sister Ludella, parents Ludvig and Thella, in-laws, Jim and Cora Brian. Ron lived a life full of purpose and passion. Ron found his greatest happiness with family and friends in the outdoors. Whether traveling abroad, racing cars, hunting and fishing, snow or water skiing, riding snowmobiles, dirt bikes, road bikes, or on the lake in a boat. Ron treasured these moments. All who were blessed to receive one of his leatherwork projects will forever cherish it.
Ron had a heart for serving others. As an active member of his Church he held numerous callings and when someone needed help, he was there to lend a helping hand or tools whatever the case might have been. Ron worked with the Lions Club as well as the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for the many hours of time dedicated to help build young men.
Ron was a man of integrity and honor, loved and respected by all that knew and interacted with him. A true gentleman, friend, father, and forever faithful husband. A family man whose guiding values were his faith in Jesus Christ, the love for his family, service and dedication in his professional, personal, church and community life.
Funeral Service will be held at the Columbia Heights Ward, Vancouver Stake Center, 10509 SE 5th Street, Vancouver, WA 98664 on Tuesday March 17th at 11:00 a.m. Prior to the services a viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N 15th Ave, Pocatello, ID 83201 on Saturday, March 21st at 1:00pm. Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery following the celebration.
