Ronald Engvald Nelsen passed away May 12th, 2023, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Pocatello, ID at the age of 91.
Ronald was born February 1, 1932, in Seattle, WA to Engvald and Ilene Ikerd Nelsen. Ronald's parents moved to Olympia, WA when he was an infant. Ronald and his 4 younger siblings, Arlou, Carol, and twins, Judy and Jared were raised and attended school in Olympia.
In his early 20's Ronald moved to California where he resided the majority of his life. Ronald worked as a security guard and for Chevron in his early career. He would later work for a vendor in Dodgers Stadium for 61 years.
During his career at Dodger Stadium Ronald appeared in many newspaper articles and had his photograph taken with Vin Scully and Yasiel Puig to name a few. He became part of the Dodger family. Ronald worked in Dodger Stadium until the Pandemic in 2020. He then moved to Arizona for a brief time and in the latter part of 2020 he moved to Pocatello, ID to live with his niece, Jennie Ostler. Due to health issues Ronald moved into Brookdale Assisted Living in 2022.
Ronald was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ronald made many friends throughout his lifetime. Ronald had an amazing memory and could remember dates from back to his childhood.
Ronald loved to watch baseball and football. Of course, he cheered for the Dodgers, but he also supported the Seattle Mariners. He was a proud supporter of the Seattle Seahawks football team.
Ronald loved music and related it to life. He said music made him happy and forget about the bad things.
Ronald is survived by his sister Judith Ann Walker, Hillsboro, OR. He is proceeded in death by his parents, sisters, Arlou and Carol and brother Jared.
The family wishes to thank Rosita Ward from Brookdale for the compassion and love she showed to Ronald while he was in their care.
A Graveside service will be held Friday May 19th at 11 AM in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello. A viewing from 10 AM-10:45 AM will be held at Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.
