Nancy JoAn Dilweg Obituary

JoAn Falter Dilweg, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at home with her children at her side. JoAn was born January 21, 1933 in Pocatello, Idaho to Leslie L. Falter and Afton L. Chilton Falter. She has one sister, Diane.
She was a Pocatello High School graduate. She attended Idaho State University – B.A. in Speech and Drama, M.A. in Secondary Education and Administration. She received her Ph.D. in Theatre and Cinematic Arts at Brigham Young University. She taught at Century High School, Highland High School, Irving Jr. High, Idaho State University, and Brigham Young University. She belonged to several sororities.
She is recognized in Who’s Who in High School Dramatics, Outstanding Young Women of America, received a grant in Dance Ed for the Handicap, Kennedy Foundations, Idaho’s Very Special Arts Festival, ISU Native American issues, and Native American literature. She received the Brigham Young University Outstanding Graduate Award. She produced and directed over 24 outstanding performances during her tenure at Century High School. She received the Lemmon and Sons Award, numerous Idaho Teacher of the Year awards, as well as many national awards. She retired at the age of 75.
She was very energetic and enthusiastic. Education was very important to her. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading, dance, arts and crafts, and the outdoors – fishing, swimming, skiing.
She valued and treasured her family, and she will be greatly missed by her surviving friends, students, and family members which include: her sister Diane, JoAn’s children Dana Kisling (his children Nicholia and Hailey with Nicholia having 3 great grandchildren for JoAn – Kannon, Emmy, and Dylan), Leslie Dykman (her children Annie, Brett, and Brian), Nancy Siler (her children Amber, Dawn, Ashley, and Sage), and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jon C. Dilweg.
Her memorial service will be held at 11am with a viewing at 10am on Wednesday May 19th at the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave. Pocatello, ID, followed by a short ceremony at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
