Nancy Cheadle-Winberg Obituary

If you are reading this, then I have finished my earthly race! Do not grieve for now I can run without wheezing, sing without making others cringe, dance with abandon, and worship my Lord for all eternity! After over 5 years of battling stage 4 rectal cancer, I am free! Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails”. Although cancer and a shortened life were not in my plans, the Lord has worked all to his purposes for good beyond what I could even imagine or will ever know the impact. I was born Nancy Cairns Cheadle to Bruce and Dianna Cheadle on August 24, 1983 in Wenatchee, Washington. I grew up playing My Little Ponies with my sisters, spending endless hours in the swimming pool, completed my bachelor’s degree at California State University Northridge while competing in swimming there, and earned my Doctor of Audiology at Idaho State University. I was honored to return to ISU as audiology faculty in 2015. In 2012 I married Doug Winberg in Moscow, Idaho, and in 2013 gave birth to my son Daniel Paul Winberg. Sadly, Doug passed away suddenly in 2014. I love Pocatello and have been honored to be a part of the community since 2015. My time has been spent fostering over 100 kittens and cats through various rescues, encouraging others in online colorectal cancer groups and young widow support groups, skiing at Pebble Creek, raising backyard chickens, and exploring our beautiful area with my son. I am survived by my parents Bruce and Dianna Cheadle of East Wenatchee, Washington, two sisters: April Cheadle of Poulsbo, Washington, and Melissa Cheadle of Tucson, Arizona, and son Daniel Winberg of Pocatello, Idaho. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Portneuf Cancer Center. If you wish to honor my memory, I ask that you please get a colonoscopy. Colorectal cancer is the second most prevalent cancer and is on the rise in people under 40. It is also the most preventable cancer if detected early. You think a colonoscopy is no fun? Try being on chemo for over 5 years! Other memorial donations can be made to Portneuf Cancer Center for the young cancer survivors support group, Colorectal Cancer Alliance, Idaho State University Foundation Nancy Cheadle Scholarship, Donations can be made to Daniel Winberg's school fund account at Idaho Central Credit Union under the Nancy Cheadle-Winberg Memorial Account.
I also challenge everyone to support kitty spays and neuters or adoptions in your community by donating to a rescue to cover either an adoption fee or spay/neuter fee in my memory.
A memorial will be held Friday, July 29th, at 11am in the University Bible Church, 4700 N Philbin Rd., Chubbuck, Idaho. A private graveside service will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Please wear blue for colorectal cancer awareness.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com
