Michael Poppleton Obituary

Michael David Poppleton, 67, Pocatello, passed away, January 24, 2024. Mike was born on May 28th, 1956, to Hank and Jo Anne Poppleton. He grew up in Pocatello and was the first of three children and a wonderful big brother to his siblings Jeff and Betty Jo.

On November 21, 1980, Mike married the love of his life, Ginny Sedlar. Together, they were an outstanding team and they welcomed two wonderful children, Nick and Mattie. His children were his world, he taught and showed them both his love for the outdoors and always made sure that Nick and Mattie's friends were always involved in anything they did.

Mike was an avid skier and loved to be on the ski hill. Once his arthritis no longer allowed him to hold his ski poles, he decided to switch to snowboarding. There, he taught both Nick and Mattie his love for the sport and both are avid snowboarders to this day as Mike once was. They say they feel the closest to their dad while flying down the hill with snow up to their knees.

Mike and Ginny's second home was in Mackay, whether it be on the reservoir fishing or in the mountains four wheeling, you would always find them there during the summer months enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. Regardless of who was with them at the reservoir, Mike would always make sure that you had a fishing pole in your hand and a worm on the line and would do his very best to make sure you enjoyed your time there.

Along with his wife and kids, Mike's family meant the world to him. After the passing of Mike's father, he always made sure that his mother was taken care of in any time of need. If she called, he was there. He was the kindest, strongest, and toughest man out there, always willing to help anyone, but especially those down on their luck.

With Mike's passing, he has left a massive hole in the hearts of everyone that knew him, but we will all be forever grateful for the presence he brought wherever he was and the beautiful soul and person that Mike was and always be. To the best Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Man, fly high Mike, you are, and always will be, our hero.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Hank Poppleton. He is survived by his wife, Ginny. His children; son, Nick (Casie), and daughter, Mattie Bennet (Ryan). His mother, Jo Anne Poppleton. His siblings; brother, Jeff Poppleton, and sister, Betty Jo Sorensen (Jack). His grandchildren Kirsten Amerson, Sammy Amerson, Billie Robinson (Jessica), and Mikel Poppleton (Conner).

We would also like to thank Heritage Home Health and Hospice, especially his nurse Evelyn. We would also like to thank Dr. Jonathon Cree, who took such great care of Mike for many years.
