Marylene Davis Obituary

Marylene L. Davis Obituary
Date of Birth: September 27, 1933, Boise, Idaho
Date of Death – March 20, 2020 – Pocatello, Idaho
Marylene was born to John and Adeline Little in Boise Idaho. She went to nurses training and received her RN in August 1954. She married Clyde Davis on August 14, 1954 and was married just shy of 56 years. They had three daughters, Laura Ann Davis, Corrine Gay Wilkening and Nancy Davis Broderick. They lived in Orem, Provo Utah, Palmdale California and Pocatello, Idaho.
Marylene had a long career working as an RN in both Utah and Idaho. After she retired, she volunteered at Pocatello Regional hospital for over 14 years.
Marylene loved God and Jesus with all her heart and soul. Her constant faith was an inspiration to many people. She would often tell friends and family “Be Still and Know that I am God”. It was her mantra and helped her through many hard times. She was always so positive and optimistic. When you saw her, she always had a smile. She was well known for giving out “Hug Coupons” to strangers. She never missed an opportunity to give someone a hug and would say “have you had a hug today?” Even if you had one, she would always give another one. She had a very endearing way about her, people who didn’t know her liked her immediately.
Marylene was a bit adventurous and loved to try new things – at least once. She was always learning new things. She took quickly to learning to use the computer. She loved making homemade cards and creating her own “Free Hug” coupons. She quickly learned how to use an IPhone and loved using emojis in her texts. She enjoyed reading and coloring and playing Wii bowling. You would often find her on her patio, enjoying the outside and reading her book. She had a lifelong love for sewing. She didn’t have her sewing machine anymore; however, she worked at the Sewing Room every Thursday afternoon. She loved to be able to sew and spend time with the ladies there. She wanted to stay healthy and would walk every day, she liked “getting her steps in”.
Marylene touched many lives. There is a gaping hole for many of us without her. Her bright red hair and beautiful smiled will be dearly missed.
She is survived by daughter Nancy Davis Broderick (Dave), three grandchildren: Sean Wilkening (Heather), Shantay Wilkening (Jake), Zachary Pankau (Kira) and 5 great-grandchildren: Sydney, Presley, Bodhi, Major and Oden.
