Mary Weeks Obituary

Mary Helen Palmerton-Weeks, 84, of 1530 Helmandollar Road Inkom, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her bed surrounded by loved ones to live with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 26th, 2023.
Mary Helen was the oldest of six children and was born on January 6, 1939, in New Deal (Fort Peck), Montana to Adena Magdalena Kuehn and Melvin Henry Palmerton. Mary Helen was raised and went to school in Fairfield, Montana.
While in Fairfield, she met and later married her first husband William Hugh Thornley at St. John's Church in Great Falls, Montana on October 11, 1958. Together they moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where she was a homemaker. They lived there for 5 years before they moved their family to Pocatello. Though they later divorced, they were blessed with four children; Bobbi Jean Thornley-Caldwell, Darren "Buck" (Tammy) Thornley, William Hugh "Bill" Thornley, Jr., and Sandra Anne "Sandi" (Robert) Thornley.
In Pocatello, she met and later married her second husband, Harold Weeks on February 14, 1974. She was then blessed with his three daughters: Becky (Mike) McCarty, Deby (Dave) Coombs, and Mickey (Fred) Campbell.
While raising her family, she worked for Bucyrus-Erie, she was a Mary Kay consultant, and she donated her time as a youth leader at Gate City Baptist Church. Mary Helen and Harold would later move to Fernley, Nevada where she served as a youth leader at Fernley Baptist Church. They then moved to Williamston, South Carolina where she worked at Rite-Aid and also in the cafeteria in the Palmetto Elementary School.
After her divorce from Harold, she would move back to Pocatello to take care of her mother. While in Pocatello, she would work as a caregiver and at a local dry cleaner until she found her place at Eddy's Bakery, where she worked until she retired. After retirement, she spent her time as a foster grandparent for the local Head Start program. She lived in St. Anthony's Place and was the treasurer for the residents there.
Mary Helen always loved going on adventures- everything from camping, motorcycling, snowmobiling, water-skiing, and road trips. She was artistic, crafty, loved to sing, and she had the ability to make connections with everyone she met. Our youth and disabled veterans always held a very special place in her heart.
Mary Helen was a prayer warrior, and although she had many roles in all our lives, the most important role to her was that of a "Child of God." Her faith could never be shaken. She had a close personal relationship with God, and she was so proud to talk about Him all the time. She is going to be missed, and she will be remembered in the beauty all around us; the sunrises and sunsets, the changing of seasons, the flowers in bloom, the smile of a child, and the kindness shared between all of us.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Gate City Baptist Church, 500 W. Maple Street, Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 2:00pm. A reception will immediately follow the celebration of Mary Helen's life, at the Rapid Creek Ward at 801 N. Rapid Creek Road, Inkom. Idaho, hosted by our special friends and neighbors.
