Mary Ann Hansen

August 2, 1956 ~ July 15, 2023 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Obituary

Mary Ann Hansen slipped quietly from this life into eternity on July 15, 2023, with her mother at her side. She fought an exhausting battle for over a year, enduring Lupus, and kidney failure.

Mary was born August 2, 1956, in Montpelier Idaho to Kenny A. Hansen [Jim] and Eunice Walker Hansen. She was the first born, later becoming a big sister when Scott A. Hansen was born.

She was the apple of her daddy's eye. He would stand at the end of her bed watching her sleep saying she was his very own sleeping beauty. Mary was raised in a family with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. They were great friends and playmates.

Her family loved road trips, sight-seeing, picnicking and berry picking. They went fishing at the Montpelier reservoir and Bear Lake, road hunting in Star Valley and visiting family in Pocatello.

Mary' family attended a lot of local ballgames and other sporting events supporting the area youth.

She attended school in Montpelier, graduating from Bear Lake High School. After graduation she attended Rick's College earning an associate degree. She worked at the INEEL in Idaho Falls and for various lawyers, finding her home with the Nielson, Loveless Firm in Pocatello. They became family to Mary. She loved her work, making many friends along the way.

Mary helped to facilitate many Self Discovery Workshops created by Edwin Hutchinson. She gave freely of her time, love, and talents to this cause. Chris Hutchinson became a best friend and remains so today.

Mary loved to cook and bake. During the holidays she and her mother made lots of candy and goodies for gifting. She was artistic and could draw and paint well. She truly loved music of many kinds. Mary was a good listener and helped many renew their perspective on life. She generously helped many families and friends with legal matters, asking for nothing in return. She loved nature and animals, especially her dogs. Her dog Beau was placed with family. Mary was very well loved and will be sorely missed.

Mary Ann requested of her family that there be no services of memorial held. Perhaps you could gather your own family and friends and celebrate her life. She would love that.

She is survived by her mother Eunice of Montpelier, brother Scott and nephew Kenny of Bennington.
