Kenneth Burton Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" Leroy Burton, 68, Pocatello, passed away, April 20, 2023. Kenny was born Wednesday, May 12, 1954 to Vincent and Odessa Burton. He was the second of four children. He was preceded in death by his sister, Toni Lorraine Shenk.

Kenny graduated from Topeka High School in Topeka, KS in 1972. Upon graduation he attended Kaw Area Vocational Technical School earning a degree in Electricity and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning. He started his company C&K Electric in June 1981 and worked as a Master Electrician for over 41 years.

Kenny's greatest joy was his family. He met his wife Carmen Lewis in Topeka, KS and they were married on Friday, June 30,1972. During their nearly 51 years of marriage Kenny enjoyed spending time with Carmen riding bikes, traveling, camping, entertaining friends and family, and cooking and eating. He especially loved cooking and eating ribs. In fact Carmen said he was known as "The Rib Man."

Kenny was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was baptized on Saturday, November 7, 1970 in Hiawatha, KS. Kenny had the privilege of serving as a congregation elder for several years in the past. As of recent he was really thankful to serve as an Auxiliary Pioneer during the 2023 Memorial season He was able to assist on several theocratic building projects using his trade and experience locally in the Kansas, Idaho, and surrounding areas. He also enjoyed helping as a disaster relief volunteer outside of the Unitec States.

Kenny had a great sense of humor and a genuine loving heart for all mankind. All those who knew Kenny remember he would relate fond memories of being baptized in a horse trough and it took three times to get it right. Or while traveling to various volunteer projects Kenny would always like to stop and get a burger at Burger King in case the place they were going did not have good food for lunch! Those in the community knew him as a giving, generous, humble, and helping person. Kenny never met a stranger and to know him was to love him. Many of his customers noted that he was fair, did good clean work, and was polite, which he always attributed to living by his Bible trained conscience.

To cherish his memory, Kenny leaves his loving and devoted wife Carmen daughter Brandi Burton-Thomas (Wayne Thomas); grandkids Shakayla Burton, Makiah Knutter, and Nashkia Knutter; great-grand kids Tarek Burton and Kaysen Knutter; parents Vincent Leroy and Odessa Marie Burton; brothers Daryl Burton and Dwane Burton; Brother-in-law Randall Shenk; as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends with whom he will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 29th at 3:30pm in the Cottage Grove Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1875 Cottage Ave., Pocatello.
