Obituary

Judy May Slaughter passed away on Sunday, Mar 6, 2022 in Pocatello, Idaho in the presence of her family and dear friend. Judy was born to Billy and Edna Rhoades on April 10, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1961. She met the love of her life, Robert Slaughter at First Assembly of God Church and they were married on June 9, 1961. Together they had two children, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. They lived in Pocatello until 1983 when Robert’s work transplanted them to Billings, Montana where they lived for seven years before returning to Pocatello. Judy always wanted to be a mother. This was apparent by the generous outpouring of love and devotion she provided her family. Her giving nature extended to her friends and church community as well. Judy enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for others. She was an accomplished seamstress and an avid crafter. Judy’s faith in God was important to her throughout life and she embodied her beliefs through her genuine kindness and service. Together, Judy and Robert enjoyed many adventures. They spent summers camping and winters cross country skiing. Over the years, they visited family and friends in Arizona, Oklahoma, Vermont, Oregon, and Massachusetts. They vacationed in Washington, D.C., took an Alaskan cruise, and enjoyed a trip to Hawaii in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary. Judy and Robert were married nearly 60 years at the time of Robert’s passing in 2021. More adventures await them. Judy is survived by her daughter Robin (Steve) Jensen, son Michael (Britiney) Slaughter, granddaughter Jenna (Cameron) Thompson, grandsons Dawson, Mason, and Jordan Slaughter, and great grandsons Dylan and Silas. She is also survived by her brothers Ron (Christina) Rhoades, David (Tabby) Rhoades, and Ric (Dawn) Rhoades. Judy was preceded in death by her husband Robert and her grandson Nathan Wegner. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00p.m. at Calvary Alliance Church, 800 Marininus Lane, Pocatello, ID. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-1:45 the day of the service. Burial will follow immediately after the services at Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello.
