JoAnn M. Howell
After 82 years, JoAnn Howell has begun a new journey. On October 27, 2023, JoAnn left behind the shackles that tangled her mind for the last 5 years. JoAnn's family is happy that she will be at peace after fighting Alzheimers, a disease that not only impacted her but touched the lives of her immediate family, especially her husband Leonard.
JoAnn was born on August 4, 1941, to James H. and Ruby M. Bunce. She lived her life here in Pocatello, Idaho. JoAnn married Harvey Byers at a young age and of that union was blessed with a daughter, Carole Sue. After her marriage to Harvey ended, She met and married Leonard Howell. This marriage added to their family a son, Shane. JoAnn and Leonard's adventures have endured over 52 years, beginning on Valentines Day in 1971.
In her career days, JoAnn worked at various car dealerships in an administrative capacity. Hill Brothers, Hirning of Pocatello and for sure ran a tight ship. JoAnn had an excellent work ethic. She also enjoyed her home and could decorate and hang wallpaper like a professional. She was an expert knitter and made many afghans for people that were special in her life. She enjoyed making miniatures as a hobby. JoAnn was a remarkable cook, a trait she inherited from her Mother Ruby and Grandmother Bessie Frazier.
After marrying Leonard, there were many camping, fishing and hunting adventures to the Salmon River area for their family. She often spoke of the Salmon area and the fun they used to have. They enjoyed their RV at Seagull Bay for many years. JoAnn also loved to go to Bouse, Arizona in the winter months and enjoyed a small home that she made very cozy.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Leonard, daughter Carole Sue, son Shane, grandchildren Cordel and Sydnie Howell. (JoAnn was so proud of her grandchildren and the responsible young adults they are.) She also leaves behind a sister Judy McLaughlin and brother Rodney Jones.
Love and Peace to you my dear JoAnn, until we meet again- under a beautiful deep blue sky or Arizona sunset that you so enjoyed.
