Jeffrey Redden Obituary

Jeffrey James Redden, 37, Pocatello, passed away, January 12, 2024. He was born in Pocatello on January 23, 1986. He is the beloved son of Mark and Merredith Redden.

He was a 6'9" gentle giant with a huge sensitive heart full of compassion for the underdog. He found his size to be an inconvenience to him and while shy didn't like the attention it brought. He felt the sting of being bullied but never retaliated as it wasn't in his nature. It was his keen wit and hilarious sense of humor that kept us laughing even in the worst of times.

He graduated from Highland High School and received a BA degree in English from ISU having made the dean's list. He was a voracious reader from a very young age and enjoyed all kinds of literature. He was extremely intelligent with many different interests that he would research until he knew as much as possible on the subject. He especially loved all things computers, having built his own and was autodidact, teaching himself coding and many other computer skills. He was our own IT guy.

He could imitate people perfectly, including accents and had a nickname for everyone. He won the presidential award for writing at an early age and thought the ideal job would be writing for a comedy show. It would have been great.

He struggled for years with depression, anxiety, and various substance abuse issues. He tried valiantly to overcome his demons and was successful for years at a time, again researching diligently the science behind addiction and paths to overcome it. We give him a great deal of credit for his continued efforts.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Shandon and Valena Redden and Terrell and Marie Siepert. He is survived by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins who loved him.

It has been our great privilege to be his parents. We have faith God still has a perfect plan for him and loves him even more than we do. We know that in that plan all broken parts will be healed and we will have all eternity to love and enjoy his company again.

No service will be held as per his wishes. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com
