H. Stanley Rose, 90, passed away Monday February 15, 2021 in Pocatello, Idaho. Stanley was born on June 17, 1930 in Dubois, Idaho and was the only child of Dorothy Shultz Rose and Ether J. Rose. Raised in Lima, Montana he attended and graduated from Lima High School in 1948.
After graduation, Stanley worked as a mechanic for one year before joining the Union Pacific Railroad in 1950, where he began his career as a Locomotive Fireman. He then enlisted with the Army in February 1951, and served two active years, followed by three years in the USAR. During this time, he married Claire M. Empey on September 20, 1953. They made their home in Lima until he was transferred with the railroad to Pocatello in 1964. Together they raised three daughters: Patricia, Nancy, and Mary.
Stanley retired in 1992 from the Union Pacific Railroad after serving 42 years as an Engineer and Road Foreman-Train Master. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his winter home in Yuma, Arizona, and summers in both Lima and Pocatello. Stanley loved gardening and was well known for his beautiful yard. He also cherished music, and was a talented performer who played the trumpet and saxophone. Many would similarly remember him as an adept handyman, active member of the Elks Lodge #674 for 56 years, and as a lifetime member of VFW.
Stanley is survived by his daughters: Patty (Mike) Egbert, Omaha NE; Nancy (Kerry) Cameron, Pocatello ID; Mary M. Rose, Pocatello ID; three grandkids: Elizabeth (Brad) Demuzio, Chubbuck, ID; Ashley Egbert, New Orleans LA; Adam Egbert, San Diego, CA; four great grandkids: Landon, Kaleb, Alena, and Mia Demuzio; his dear friend Joan Vance, Pocatello, ID; and his brother and sister in-law, Stanford and Nola Empey, Sun Lakes, AZ.
