Garland Gay Obituary

Garland Raymond Gay Jr., known as Ray to his friends and family passed away peacefully at Caring Hearts Assisted Living Monday February 19, 2024. He was 88 years old.

Ray was born to Garland Raymond Gay Sr. and Beatrice Clara Gay July 5, 1935, at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Ray served honorably in the Airforce and after receiving an education in Hydraulics there, he worked for Nasa's Apolo program, sending man to the moon.

Ray is preceded in death by his 2nd wife Pat. He is survived by his 1st wife and mother to his children Sandra McEwen, his 4 children Ron Day (Celina), Bob Gay, Gary Miller and Diane La Barge (Ben deceased), 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and stepdaughter Patty Winters.

The family would like to thank Lynell, Michaela, Laura, and Stefney of Symbi for their exceptional care of Ray.

Ray always had a warm smile for those he met and as a result received the nickname "Ray of Sunshine" later in life. He will be sorely missed.

Ray will receive military honors Friday, March 1st at 2 PM in the Blackfoot Veteran Memorial Cemetery. There will be a memorial gathering Saturday, March 9th at 2 PM in the Salvation Army, 400 N. 4th Ave., Pocatello.
