Donna Marie Shorthouse

Donna Marie Shorthouse, 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday night, April 18, 2023 at a local health care center.

Donna was born September 26, 1931 at Twin Falls, Idaho to Eugene Joseph and Frances Louise McDonald Thometz. She was raised in Buhl, Idaho with two older brothers, Richard Kay Thometz and Eugene Joseph Thometz Jr.

Donna married Bill, Wilbur Eugene, Shorthouse in the Methodist Church at Castleford, Idaho on November 16, 1949. They moved from Twin Falls to Pocatello, Idaho in 1959. It was in Pocatello that Donna and Bill made their home and raised their two children, Jackie Lea and Thomas Eugene Shorthouse.

Donna was a stay-at-home mom when the kids were young. In 1965 she decided to go back to work. She worked at Paul Roberts Machine Shop as a bookkeeper for 26 years until she retired in December 1991.

After retirement, Donna and Bill spent some time traveling. They would make a plan, hook up the trailer to their truck and head down the road. One summer they spent two months traveling across the United States and Canada to visit Nova Scotia, Canada. On the way to Nova Scotia, they stopped in Rhode Island to visit some friends they had known for many years.

Each year, January through April, Bill and Donna could be found living in their trailer down south in the warmer climate states. No cold and shoveling snow for them.

Donna and Bill were married for sixty-four years. They loved each other so very much. They each considered themselves lucky to have found each other and to have had a lifetime to spend together.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, who passed away November 23, 2013.

Donna is survived by her daughter Jackie Zamaro and son Tom Shorthouse and his wife Jackie L. Faulkner Shorthouse. Donna has four grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Donna was a wonderful loving woman who lived a long happy life. She will be missed by anyone who knew her.

There will be a gathering for family and friends to pay their last respects to Donna on Monday April 24, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Pocatello, Idaho.
