David Perry Obituary

With sadness, love, and profound gratitude, the family of David B. Perry announces his passing on Monday, June 20, 2022, at the age of 77. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by the love of family.

Dave was born in Louisville, Ky., to Floyd and Fern Perry. He grew up in Pocatello, Idaho, which is where he lived most of his life. He also lived in southern California from 1988 to 1998.

On November 25, 1961, he married the love of his life, his "Bestest Girl", as he called her, Judith Anne Bissell. They were married for 60 adventurous years. They loved to do things on the spur of the moment. They raised two children, a son, Jeff Perry, and a daughter, Gina Perry Hubbard.

Dave was a heavy equipment mechanic for many years, and a long-haul truck driver for the last 20 years of his career. He loved to drive and work on repairing all types of vehicles.

As a family, favorite activities included camping and boating, traveling, and playing pinochle. A highlight was the race car that he and his son, Jeff owned named "Plum Loco". Watching them race was thrilling to all who knew them. He and Jeff had a blast!

In his spare time, Dave enjoyed playing Texas Holdem. He would often say that he wished he could play professionally. He played in many tournaments and even became a dealer for a short period of time.

Dave had a great knowledge of geography and maps, and an incredible memory for dates and places. He and his wife, Judy, loved to go "trippin". Dave saw most of the country either on pleasure trips or through his profession. He could tell you how to get to every place he had ever been by memory.

While Dave had many hobbies, his family was most important to him. He was thrilled when family came to visit, and he would often visit family when he could.

Dave was a natural teacher and a pillar of strength. He taught his children how to face life's challenges and problem solve. He knew his children's strengths, and weaknesses and guided them accordingly. He was fair, patient, honest and very loving. Dave was a huge supporter of his children and grandchildren. He was and will always be their hero.

Aside from being survived by his wife and children, Dave leaves behind his loving sisters, Gail, Sheryl, and Toni, and his seven beautiful granddaughters, Randi Jo, Ashley, Kara, Kelsey, Isabella, Autumn, and Brooklyn, and his great grandchildren, Jordan, and Jackson. When Jackson was born last year, Dave was delighted to finally have a boy in the family! Dave also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Dave had several friends and many lifelong friends that he treasured throughout his life. He looked forward to spending time with all of them.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Fern Perry, and his sweet granddaughter, Kayla Perry.

In respect for Dave's wishes, no services will be held. Instead, please keep special memories of him alive for years to come by sharing them and keeping them close at heart.

Dave will be known by his family and friends for his kind and compassionate spirit, his sense of humor and his sweet smile. We will miss him every day, always.
