It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Christina Croxford, 38, of Maricopa, Arizona, writes of the tragic accident that claimed her young life on January 15, 2021. Christina was joyfully spending time with her family in the Coons Bluff area, rock climbing and rappelling, as they did often. She fell while rappelling down the face of a cliff. She was survived by her husband of nearly 17 years, Douglas Croxford and their three children; Oliver (14), Lillian (11), Everett (8), and step-daughter Bethannie (20).
Christina was an adventurous, fun loving, care free, and beautiful soul. Her smile, giggle and genuine love of life was infectious. Christina loved with all of her heart and was kind to everyone she interacted with, whether she knew them or not. Christina suffered from chronic kidney stones and a blood disorder that she managed regularly, but that didn't stop her from experiencing the adventures that her short life entailed.
She loved camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and all things outdoors. You could catch her sitting by the pool while intently watching her children. It wasn't long before she was jumping in with them (assuming the water was warm enough). Christina was able to enjoy the air through her hair as she zip-lined and stepped out of a plane to skydive. She truly lived life to the fullest each day.
Christina had a beautiful voice and loved music, which is a huge part of the harmony she created in their home. The quotes and words of encouragement strategically placed throughout her home, will continue to subtly convey her expectations of individual worth. She was an advocate of gaining knowledge and loved to read. She spent countless hours reading and expressing her thoughts and feelings in her journals. She was disciplined and determined. Christina taught remedial reading at a multi-level academy. She earned her Bachelor of English with a Minor in Psychology. She was working toward her Master of Psychology with an emphasis in counseling.
Christina also had a desire to gain spiritual knowledge. She was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved the gospel and openly expressed her love for the Savior. She willingly accepted multiple positions to serve in the church. She wasn't afraid to share the gospel with those around her. Christina married and was sealed for all eternity to her best friend and soul mate, Douglas, in the Manti, Utah Temple.
In addition to her Christ-like glow and sweet demeanor, Christina was quirky and silly. She loved to play games and was willing to try new things. She had a way of including everyone and making the best of any situation. She stepped out of her comfort zone on so many occasions, if it meant she could help someone or uplift them in some way.
Christina was an incredible person. She touched the lives of everyone she knew and made an impact, that made us better for knowing her. She will forever be missed and loved.
