Catherine Critchfield Conley, 89, Pocatello, passed away, October 20, 2023.Catherine (Cathy) Lucille Critchfield Conley, 89 of Pocatello, Idaho passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023 after a life well lived.
Cathy was born in Ogden, Utah on September 16, 1934 to Leo Clifton Critchfield and Frances Withrow Critchfield. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School through the 8th grade and graduated from Ogden High School in 1952. Later that year she married Boyd J. Conley and had six children before she was 30. They divorced in 1972. In 1981, she met her husband Geoff Ranere and they enjoyed 42 wonderful years together.
Returning to school, she earned her Bachelor Degree in 1981 and continued with a Master's Degree from Idaho State University. She worked as periodical supervisor at Idaho State University Library for 26 years, retiring in 1998.
Cathy performed in several musicals in Pocatello, she had a beautiful voice and enjoyed a passion for theatre. From 1985-1995 she performed with the 50's and 60's rock and roll oldies group "The Argyles" consisting of her husband Geoff, and five of their close friends. Although performing mainly in Pocatello, they also had several performances in cities throughout the Pacific Northwest.
She joined the local Chapter of Sweet Adelines International in 1962 and was a member for 60 years, performing in many shows and attending regional and international competitions. She later became a very well-respected International Showmanship Judge and was able to judge competitions in both the United States and internationally; including Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, England, Holland and Germany. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, experiencing different cultures, and making many lifelong friends along the way. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by many.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings (Patricia, Harriet and Bill); and two daughters, Pamela Kay Conley and Cristy Conley. She is survived by her husband Geoff Ranere, daughter Jan Ingelstrom Stewart (Ken), and three sons, Tim Conley (Jill), Dave Conley (Deanna), Brian Conley (Jonnette); three step-children, Lance Ranere (Michelle), Geoffrey Ranere (Tiffany), and Misty Humphries; 12 grandchildren, Jamie Smith (Kelly), Christy Satterfield (Tighe), Kate Ingelstrom (Jason Jurchuk), Alison Ingelstrom, Russell Conley, Kyle Conley, Travis Beutler (Kylee), Alex Conley, Andrea Dutton (Cory), Dylan Conley, Cassidy Conley, Logan Conley; six step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
A beautiful life, lived passionately! Your family will miss you beyond words.
