Carolyn Simons Obituary

Carolyn Dee Simons

Our loving and beloved mother, wife, daughter and sister was called home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, June 28th, 2021. She left her home in Pocatello, Idaho for a joyous reunion with her mother, father, sister, brother, husband, Aunt Linnea, family members and loved ones.

Carolyn was born July 24th, 1949 in Pocatello, Idaho to Max Fluiett Simons and Verna Payne Simons. She was the eldest child in a family of four children and several foster children.

Carolyn bore two daughters: the first was Heather Jo England, now married to Mark Glaser and residing in Fort Myers, Florida; the second was Holly Jo Peterson, now married to Chris Peterson and residing in Laveen, Arizona.

Carolyn was a lifelong member of the LDS community and church. She was always the first to help the less fortunate and those that could not fight for themselves. She was always providing words of comfort to support the multitudes of people she met in life, both in person and in online communities.

She worked tirelessly to support death row inmates and to abolish the death penalty.

She was an avid historian, animal lover, photographer and artist. She was a writer and editor of many books. She strongly valued books and a handwritten letter.

She called herself "The Hippie next door since '67" and was very proud of the many trips she made in her van with just a tank of gas. She camped, traveled the coast and frequently went to Haight Ashbury or wherever her hippie communities could be found.

Carolyn was a wonderful woman and friend, who was loved by those whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Private services were previously held.
