Ardella Anderson Long passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Surrounded by her loving family.
Ardella was born on March 1, 1924 in the old St. Anthony hospital in Pocatello, Idaho. Her parents were Harry Emanuel Anderson and Ethel Georgeanna Davis. Ardella was raised in Pocatello Idaho. In 1940 her father purchased a dairy farm near Pocatello Creek, known as the Anderson Dairy. Ardella worked hard on the family dairy, even doing milk deliveries before going to High School. She was taught by her parents to be a hard worker.
Ardella met LaMar (Bud) Long on a blind date while he was attending ISU. They continued dating and decided to wed during World War II. Bud Joined the Army Air Force and while on furlough they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on February 28, 1944. They were transferred to Lincoln Nebraska where their first child, Steven, was born. Ardella and Bud were married for 72 years before his death in 2016.
After her children were in school, Ardella went to ISU and earned her Cosmetology degree. Bud converted their garage into a beauty salon. Through her business she meant a lot of interesting people and continued working into her 80s. Ardella has lived in Nebraska, California, and Idaho. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many callings including Relief Society President. She and Bud served a mission at the Family History Center.
Ardella is survived by her four children. Steven (Ardana- deceased) Long, Carol (Stephen) Chatterton, David (Deanna) Long, all of Pocatello and Diana (Brian) Crane of Sparks, NV;19 Grandchildren, 45 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren (with one more on the way).
The family would like to thank Heritage Hospice, especially Marian, Emma and Clint for their kind and loving care of Ardella.
Her funeral will be held in the Meadowbrook Ward building (300 East Chapel) on May 13. 2023. The viewing will be from 10 - 11am, then the Funeral 11 am - 12 pm. Burial will follow at 12:30 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
