On March 5th, 2020, Anthony (Tony) Andrew Pinza unexpectedly passed away in Pocatello, Idaho at the age of 39.
Tony was born on April 6th, 1980 in Walla Walla, Washington to his mother, Donna Berger (Brooks) and father Steve Pinza. Growing up in and around Eastern Washington, Tony was known for his ability to make friends everywhere he went from heavy metal concerts to football games. He had an infectious smile, booming laugh, and quick humor. Tony was especially loved by children, who always seemed to flock to him and be calmed by his presence.
In 2009, Tony was blessed to become a father to his beloved son, Josh Pinza, with his partner Carrie Hinkley. Being a father was one of Tony’s greatest joys, and he and Josh shared a love of horror movies and video games in particular. A special tradition they shared was attending the Washington State Fair and enjoying the rides.
In 2013, Tony reconnected with and married his late wife, Shanele Pinza. Together they shared a home in Mukilteo, Washington and enjoyed all the activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer. They and Josh enjoyed spending the Fourth of July on the Kitsap Peninsula at Tony’s Aunt Sue and Uncle Dave’s. To commemorate those trips, a memorial service will be held for Tony early this summer at Shorewoods in Hansville, Washington. Details will be shared with friends and family at a later date.
While living in Mukilteo, Tony spent several years working as a machinist at Boeing. He thoroughly enjoyed his job, particularly because of the friendships he was able to foster. Many of the men he worked with quickly became “brothers” to Tony, and he missed those colleagues when he and Shanele moved to Pocatello in the summer of 2019.
Tony was preceded in death by his father Steve, wife Shanele, grandmothers Claudia, Goldie, and Elma; and grandfathers Andy and Ken. He is survived by Josh (son), Donna (mother), Dan (father), Kayla, Michelle, Calibur Jane, and Sara (sisters), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends whom Tony loved dearly.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com
