Anna C. Sanchez
FORT HALL - Our beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Anna Sanchez, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the University of Utah Hospital. Anna was born October 24, 1978, to Richard Sanchez and Denise Peshlakai-Sanchez. She was a Shoshone-Bannock tribal member. Anna's career spanned nearly two decades working at the Shoshone Bannock Casino located in Fort Hall, Idaho. Her career began as a bingo floor worker, where she enjoyed working with her many bingo customers. Anna was a very caring, giving, and supportive person. She also had a wonderful sense of humor.
Anna assisted in raising her nieces and nephews; family brought great joy to her life, as did her grandchildren. She traveled across the United States visiting family, attending concerts, and vacationing. Anna was a member of the Good Shepherd Mission in Fort Hall. She is an avid writer, reader and enjoyed gardening in her free time.
Her many family and friends will forever miss Anna.
Anna is survived by her mother, Denise Peshlakai-Sanchez, daughter, Miah Mendez, significant other Joey Gebhardt of Fort Hall; and sisters Dora Truchot (Chris Anderson), Germaine (Dwayne Yazzie) Yazzie, Frances Goli (Sachin Goli), Teresa BigBow (Chase Bigbow); brother, LaVern A. Truchot Jr., nieces and nephews Idalis F. Yazzie, Dasan F. Yazzie, Lorenzo Bigbow, Leandro Bigbow, Langston Bigbow, Ella E. Truchot, Johnathan Truchot, Aubrey P. Truchot, and two grandchildren Ison Wettenbone and Lucian Yazzie.
Her father, Richard Sanchez, aunt Francine P. Truchot and grandparents Loris Peshlakai, Vera Ponzo, Irene Edmo, Grace Buckskin, John, Francis, Vern Ponzo, Martin Sanchez, and great-grandparents Frank and Dora Hammer Ponzo, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 11:00 am in the Cedars Cemetery, West Reservation Road, Fort Hall.
