Wilma Rae Seaman

Wilma Rae Seaman, 79, passed away on Saturday, February 11,2017 She was born in Pocatello, ID, on 29 April 1937.
She graduated from Pocatello High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in January 1957 as a recruit and served as a Yeoman for over 5 years on active duty. Wilma was assigned duties at OPNAV Communications at the Pentagon and was later transferred to Hawaii. She met Kenneth, her husband of 55 years, while stationed at Search and Rescue, Pearl Harbor, and they were later married in Pocatello April 29, 1961. She was honorably discharged and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
As a Navy wife, she was fortunate in accompanying her husband overseas to both Italy and back again to Hawaii. She became adept at making a home wherever they were transferred, making 12 major transfers in 21 years.
Wilma was elected President of the Chief Petty Officer's Wives Club in Pearl Harbor and filled the position of Ombudsman for the USS Current (ARS-22). She, her husband, and family retired to Pocatello in 1978, where they set up their home on East Terry. She later served as President of the Woman's Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association.
Wilma became a gourmet cook, renewed her interest in music and in later years became physically active in Excel Exercise Classes.
Wilma is survived by her husband Kenneth, a daughter Karen (Dave Fullmer) and son Kevin (Teresa Seaman), grandchildren Matthew, Crystal, Elizabeth, Kenneth, Alex, and Aaron; two great grandchildren, her sister Christine Dunnegan and several cousins and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Almeda Willecke.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11 AM in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, where the family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello, with military rites by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com
