Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend returned home to her heavenly father July 29, 2018. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family.
Odetta was born to Elsie and Victor E. Burton on March 22, 1925 in Virginia, Idaho. She was the oldest of three daughters. She was an artist, creating intricate Faberge Eggs and music boxes. She loved gardening, traveling, and was an excellent and passionate golfer.
She married John Dean Perkins, in 1942 and together they raised two sons, Steve Perkins (Joan) and Wade Perkins (Judy).
Odetta retired after a long career with the railroad where she worked many roles from the dispatchers office, Superintendent office, and as a timekeeper.
Odetta is survived by her son, Wade (Judy) and daughter-in-law Joan, grandsons John “Sam”, Jeff, Jason; grand-daughter Crystal (Rocky), great grandson Jackson who is soon to be joined by new brother Emmett, and great granddaughter Annie Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John; her sisters, Verdi and Joyce, and her son Steve. A Viewing will be at the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave, Pocatello, Thursday, August 2nd at 1:00 pm with graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery 43 East, at 2:00 pm.
