Lois Marie Gregg Chivers, 96, passed away March 15th, 2018. She was born May 27, 1921 to Henry Claud Gregg and Anna Marie Kendrick Gregg. She was born in Pocatello and lived here all her life. She was the fifth of seven children; Bernice, Bill, LaVern, Cecil, Lois, Carolyn and Donna.
She met Evan Chivers while they were both working at Kraft Foods. After a fun courtship they married September 10, 1940. They never had much money so their entertainment was going to dances at the “Garden” or the “Deleta” or playing cards with their family and friends.
To their marriage came three children, Jerry, Kent and Diana. Lois loved to play Pinochle and played with a group for about 70 years. Her sisters Berniece, Carolyn, the Seelos triplets, Nina Bitton and Nadine Hough were the first group to play. Many other ladies played as time went on. Her passion was music. She loved all kinds and she sang at the First Baptist Church until she couldn't sing anymore. Evan played the trombone in many dance groups so she was always around big band music.
When she was in her forties she went to the I.S.U Cosmetology School and became a licensed Beautician. She worked with Ann Dudnack, Sherry Short and out of her home until after she was in her 80’s. She loved her ladies.
Their family was their focus. All their activities were mostly with family. They purchased a lot in Island Park, at McCreas, located a nice mobile home on it and that we had many family reunions there. She loved all of her nieces and nephews and went to many of their activities as well as her own children.
For 25 years she loved going to swim aerobics at Fitness, Inc. with Cindy Riley as her instructor. She lived five years at Cottonwood Cove and her last year was at The Gables.
She is survived by her children: Jerry (Linda), Pocatello; Kent (Anne), Sheridan, Wyo.; Diana (Tim) Martin, New Bern, N.C.; her grandchildren: Todd, Shontel, K-Evan, Jeff, Denee, Nachell, Kenna, Amy, Rose, Andrew, and Nick; 23 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by Evan, her parents, all of her siblings and their spouses.
Thank you to the Gables Staff and Alliance Home care for taking care of our SWEET MOTHER.
