Welcome to the memorial page for

Kathryn Arlene Jacobsen

September 17, 1936 ~ September 22, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old
Kathryn Arlene Jacobsen passed away on September 22, 2017, in Pocatello.
Kathy was born in King Hill, Idaho, to Karl W. Anderson and Gladys A. (Reese) Anderson on September 17, 1936, the third of four children and the only girl. She attended public schools in King Hill and Glenn’s Ferry, graduating from Glenn’s Ferry High School in 1952 and quickly enrolling in business college in Twin Falls. She met Vern (Elvernon B) Jacobsen in Twin Falls, and they were married on December 2, 1956. While living in Twin Falls, Kathy and Vern had each of their four sons.
Kathy and Vern moved to Pocatello in 1966, and resided in Pocatello thereafter. While the children were young, Kathy sometimes worked outside the home as a bookkeeper, including a part time temporary position with Brink Accounting that lasted nearly a decade. In 1972, when her youngest son was nine years old, Kathy began working for the School District #25 lunch program, starting at Indian Hills Elementary and also finishing her career there, after more than 25 years on the job. Kathy loved her work at the school because it kept her near young people and she was able to walk to work, in the bitterest of cold or the biggest of blizzards.
Kathy had many enjoyments in her life, including family, friends, gardening, sewing, cooking/baking, watching sports, walking, and other outdoor activities, like camping with her family. Kathy was continuously proud of her family, and always interested in her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments. She was a long term and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Pocatello.
Kathy is survived by her and Vern’s four sons and their families: son Mike and Vicki (Lake) Jacobsen of Bothell, Washington, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; son Larry and Becky (Yeager) Jacobsen of Nibley, Utah, and two granddaughters; son Dale and Brenda (Munster) Jacobsen of Pocatello, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and Mark Lee Jacobsen and Morgan Hyland of Sacramento, CA. Kathy is also survived by her three sisters-in-law and their families: Darlene Anderson, Tyler, TX; Lois Anderson, Twin Falls; and Janet Birrer, Twin Falls.
Kathy is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Vern Jacobsen (March 17, 2014); her parents, Karl and Gladys Anderson of King Hill and then Twin Falls; and her brothers, Martin Anderson (Twin Falls/Tyler, TX), Virgil Anderson (Twin Falls), and Donald Anderson (Soda Springs).
