Jack Henderson Obituary

Jack Henderson, 92, Pocatello, passed away peacefully at home Monday,
March 5, 2018.
Jack was born September 25, 1925 in Haleyville, Alabama to Joe
Willie Henderson and Leslie Mae (Ayers) Henderson. He was one of 9 children.
Growing up during the Great Depression, Jack quickly developed a strong work
ethic. As a young boy he helped his father train a bull to pull a cart and by 6 years
old he was plowing fields. Around age 8 it was said he survived Polio. He was
strong willed and worked hard throughout his entire life.
Jack served in the US Army as a Corporal Electrician (Tech 5) in WWII. After
deployment he returned to Alabama and started his own logging business.
In 1946, Jack married Elizabeth Sue (Susie) Bowman. They resided in Alabama
until relocating to Pocatello, Idaho in 1950. There he served in the National Guard
for 3 years as a mechanic and worked in the Phosphorus Chemical Division at
FMC until he retired in 1989.
Jack loved living on his farm where he raised cows and horses. For many years he
raced his horses in both cutter and flat track events. His kids and grandkids will
cherish their memories of spending time with him on the farm, in the field, and at
the racetrack. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He also loved
to garden and continued gardening into his 90’s.
Jack is survived by his brother Emmit, two children Jack Wes (Kathi), and
Angelique (Rod) Orchard. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer
(Aaron) Neymeyer, Courtney (Shane) Teuscher, TJ Orchard, and five great
grandchildren, Austen, Julie, Kylie, Wesley, and Kaden. Jack is predeceased by his wife Susie and his son Stan Henderson.
At Jack’s request memorial services will be held in Haleyville, Alabama at a later
date.
