Dear Ann and Family,
Barb meant so many things to me - an occassional travelling companion to savor art and it's creation - a friend I could count on for lively discussions and ideas - a gift as an artist. I will miss her spirit and generosity. My very best to you, your brother, and your children as you journey through the loss of your mother and grandmother. She loved you so deeply and took much pleasure in your accomplishments. Take care of the memories....

Every time I think of your mom, I think of the watercolor that hung in our living room on SE Madison, Ann. I remember how devotedly she had recreated that photo and how impressed I was to learn that your mom had painted it. I know it's been a long road for you, I send you strength & love.

I will miss our discussions and learning about the best books to read, especially our shared interest in good mysteries! Barb was an inspiration in following through with both interests and passions in life, and the joys of being a grandparent. Rest In Peace my friend. My thoughts are with you Ann and Steve and your families.

Dear Ann and other loved ones:

I last saw your mother at a gathering of former ISU colleagues, women who meet occasionally for lunch. She was, at her own request, on hospice care. She was matter-of-fact about her situation. Painted notecards and a checkbook cover are tucked away in a folder labeled "to frame". My most prized B Swanson art work, given as a graduation gift when I completed my master's degree, has a prominent spot on my bedroom wall. Your mother's courage and calm acceptance are an inspiration. She is missed. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Barbara's membership in the Pocatello Art Center brought others much pleasure. One of the most lasting, and important things she did for the art community in the area, was to change our small, local, summer art show, into the Sagebrush Art Fest. It now attracts artists from surrounding states. Her impact will be felt for years to come and we miss her. Our condolences go out to her whole family.

My deepest condolences to Barb's family and those whose lives were a littler richer having known her. Godspeed!

My sincere condolences to the family and friends, so sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in knowing that God will soon resurrect our dear loved ones (John 5:28-29). Oh how we long for that time when pain, suffering and death will be no more, these former things will have passed away (Revelation 21:3-5).

To Barbara's Loved Ones,
I will miss Barb's friendship, artistry, sense of humor, and her sense of obligation in helping the world be a better place. Her influence will live on in those she loved and those who loved her as well as in her students who benefited from her gifts. I admire Barbara's decisions and courage to live as she chose; may her strength enrich us all. I'm sad for the loss of her presence in your daily lives.

Dearest Ann and Steven, we are thinking of you in this difficult time. She was very proud of you, and the people you have become. My mother purchased a couple of her paintings years ago. They are featured prominently on our walls, and will always be there as a reminder of color and beauty, and the importance of an artful, creative life.
