Joan Catterall Glenn, 78, Pocatello, passed away, Thursday evening, September 30, 2010 at her home following a lingering illness with the people she loved surrounding her. She was born November 14, 1931 in Warrington, England, to Richard and Ada Ruth Sherratt Catterall. She was the youngest of six children. She met her husband to be Roger Glenn during the Korean Conflict while he was stationed at Burtonwood Air Force Base in Burtonwood, England. Shortly afterward she followed her love to America and they were married March 12, 1953 in Montpelier, Idaho. She later became a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and on April 1, 1955 they were sealed together in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Pocatello, where together they built their home in 1958. They raised six children in that home and all the children have been to the Temple. Joan had many special interests, gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and helping others. She served as Ward Librarian in her Church for 20 years. She especially loved being a visiting teacher and a Den Mother in scouting.
Joan is survived by her brothers, Frank Catterall and Fred Catterall of Warrington, England; Children, Terry (Pam) Glenn, Cherri Glenn, Stephen (Kathy) Glenn and Janet (Stephen) Garrett of Pocatello; Keith (LaRain) Glenn of Blackfoot, Idaho; Valerie (Scott) Wilson of Twin Falls, Idaho; Twenty-0ne Grandchildren, Twenty-three Great Grandchildren and waiting the arrival of two newborns. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roger who died in December, 2006, older sisters, Ada Catterall, Minnie Hazelhurst, May Boardman and a grandson, Bradley Glenn.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Alameda LDS 5th Ward, Lakeview Chapel, 1440 Lakeview Dr., Pocatello. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 pm in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 North 15th Ave., Pocatello, and from 10:00-10:45 am Saturday morning in the church. Interment will follow services in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.
