Oscar Castro Obituary

Oscar Raul Castro, age 88, passed away on March 24, 2024 in Chubbuck, Idaho.

He was born on January 22, 1936 in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico to Ernesto Raul Castro Rodriguez and Armida Urbalejo Marini. He was the oldest of five siblings and more than a little rambunctious, which later got him sent to military school. From there he attended college and received a degree in Accounting. His family decided to immigrate to the United States when he was 21 years old and relocated to southern California.

There he met Margarita Padilla on January 1, 1958 and knew right away that he would be marrying her. They married on June 21, 1958, had five daughters and remained together until his death. He worked as a certified welder and went to work, rain or shine, sick or healthy, until his retirement in 1997.

He began learning about the Bible and its truths in 1967, was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in 1968,and served as an elder since 1971. He loved his God, Jehovah, very much and knew he had the wonderful hope of the resurrection that is promised in the Bible.

If you knew Oscar, you knew he had a great sense of humor and was always quick to joke! He was an avid bible reader, TV watcher, and loved his snacks. There wasn't a beer or pineapple pie he didn't like. He had a fondness for colognes and sunglasses. And he really enjoyed watching soccer!

He is survived by his wife, Margarita Castro, and four daughters: Miriam Washington (spouse Percy Washington, Corine Aguilar (spouse Alex Aguilar), Edith "Eydie" Padilla (spouse Jorge Padilla), and Carmel Castro. His daughter Rachel preceded him in death in 1987. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Rachelle (Aguilar) Lara (spouse Agustin), Jacqueline (Ozler) Esquibel, Jael (Aguilar) Hernandez (spouse Angel), Daniel Valadez, Sarah Ozler, Gieselle (Aguilar) Conk (spouse Chris), and Derek Valadez (spouse Dulce). He leaves behind four great-grand children: Malaquias Hernandez, Emery Esquibel, Nora Esquibel, and Abisai Lara. He also leaves behind two sisters: Lourdes Cordova and Myrna Castro, as well as nieces and nephews.

Oscar touched many lives wherever he went and definitely made them laugh! He was very loved and will truly be missed.
