Loren Earl Weaver, 82, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024. He was a loving husband to Joyce, a wonderful father to Laurie and Andy, a dear brother to Kent, and a loving grandfather to three grandchildren.
Loren was a dedicated physics professor at Millikin University and Elgin Community College. He had a passion for teaching and continued to inspire and educate students even in his retirement. Loren also loved playing music, particularly as a flute and harp duo with his wife, Joyce. Participating in orchestras and bands allowed him to contribute with his flute, oboe, and English horn in ensembles, and he also played the organ at various churches he attended. He enjoyed classical music and opera, reading, history, traveling, National Parks, and learning German.
Outside of his career and hobbies, Loren was known for his reserved yet friendly nature. He had a heart for making others feel included and meeting needs anonymously. His impact extended beyond the classroom, touching the lives of his family, students, and people from around the world that were welcomed into the family home while studying in the US.
Loren will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, passion for teaching, and love for music will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
A service to honor and remember Loren will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 11 AM in the First Presbyterian Church - Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 215 N 18th Ave., Pocatello.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com
