William H. Ehrstrom

William “Bill” H. Ehrstrom, 77, passed away April 4, 2017 at his home.
Bill was born June 28,1939 in Vancouver WA, to Hugo Waldemar Ehrstrom and Zenia Laura Light Ehrstrom, one of three children.
He attended Clark County Christian School and graduated from Ft. Vancouver High School in 1957. On April 5, 1958 he married Sue Ellen Messman. They were the parents of three children; Michael Ehrstrom, Ronald Ehrstrom, and Sandra Ehrstrom Mangum. Bill and Sue later divorced.
On July 24, 1998 he married Sherrie Aslett Ehrstrom.
In 1957, he went to work as a fireman on the SP&S railroad. After the fireman were eliminated on the railroad he later went to work for El Paso Natural Gas. He was transferred to Pocatello and worked with Northwest Pipeline.
He attended night school to acquire his electricians license and in 1978 he started his own company, Automation Specialties, Inc., specializing in electrical contracting and cathodic protection and corrosion control for the pipeline until his retirement.
Bill’s hobbies were many. He was a private pilot and owned several different airplanes. He also loved to fish. He especially liked the Columbia river and Pacific Ocean, fishing for salmon and tuna.
He had a wonderful “hobby” shop and restored several old vehicles for himself and others.
Bill was a member of the Nazarene Church and also attended the Central Christian Church in Pocatello. He was a member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife Sherrie; children, Ronald H. Ehrstrom of Hermiston, OR, and Sandra (Jeff) Mangum of Vancouver, WA; three grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) McCuistion, Kelsie (Joey) Coray, and Ryan (Marisa) Mangum; three great-grandchildren; two step-children, Annette Aslett (Michael) Renning of Tucson, AZ, and Ryan (Mackenzie) Aslett of Portland, OR; his sister, Marie Stauffer of Deer Park, WA; one step-grandchild; two nieces, and one nephew.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, son Michael, and brother Alvin.
A celebration of life will be held at 1251 Fore Rd., Pocatello, ID on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 4:00 pm.
