Welcome to the memorial page for

Rulon "Dick" Richard Young

February 22, 1934 ~ August 26, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old
Rulon Richard Young, lovingly known as Dick, 83, a longtime resident of Salmon, Idaho, passed away August 26, 2017 from complications incident to age.
Dick was born February 22, 1934 to Rulon S. Young and Mary Leone McWilliams, in Mackey, Idaho. He was raised and attended school in Mackey and Salmon, Idaho.
In 1953 he joined the U.S. Army. Just four months later, on a 15-day furlough, he came home to be married to Delila Malcolm. They were married on July 15, 1953. Dick and Delila had two children, Rulon Richard, Jr. and Delila Ty. They built a home and raised their family in Salmon, Idaho and were married for 58 years, until Delila passed away, February 26, 2011. Dick was a devoted caregiver to Delila as her health failed.
Dick was a hard worker all of his life, beginning when he was in the fifth grade working as a stock boy and cleaning floors. He worked for farms, a slaughter house, a car garage, mines, his parent’s business, flying transport, saw mills, and the forest service. He also drove passenger bus, drove freight, and delivered cars.
Dick loved flying, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, bowling, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. He was active in the American Legion.
After 64 years of not seeing Evelyn Fairchild, he once again met and not long after married his high-school sweetheart, on June 1, 2014. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Rexburg Temple on August 1, 2015. Although Evelyn was Dick’s caretaker for much of their three-year marriage, it was a happy union.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, of Menan, Idaho; a daughter Delila Ty (Ben) Garechana, his daughter-in-law, Kathy Young, and four granddaughters, Kristina Young and Paula (Eric) Zunno, Ciera Garechana, and Marisa Garechana, two great-grandchildren, and step children, Carrie (Dan) Ryan, Scott Dyment, Todd Dyment and Warren Fairchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rulon and Mary (Leone), his half-brother, Tommy, his first wife, Delila, and his son, Richard Jr. (Junior).
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the LDS Church on 400 S. Daisy St., Salmon, ID. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Graveside dedication and military funeral honors will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Salmon City Cemetery, 45 Cemetery St., Salmon, ID.
