Rosalie Taylor

August 10, 1921 ~ January 27, 2015 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Rosalie Naegle Taylor  1921-2015

Rosalie was born August 10, 1921 in St. George Utah the 6th of seven children born to George Conrad and Jennie Jameson Naegle.  They moved to Salt Lake City where she grew up, was educated and graduated from South High School in 1938.  She attended Brigham Young University where she met and married Marion Hollis (Hoc) Taylor in 1941.  He left shortly thereafter as a member of the US Army, and she followed him to Texas and California.  They were sealed in the Salt Lake temple in 1943 before he was shipped out after Pearl Harbor and their daughter was born in 1944 while he was in Italy.  When he returned home, they moved to Boise, Idaho where they made their home for 10 years, and where their two sons were born.  They moved to Pocatello in 1955 where she was active in her church, served on the Stake Relief Society Board and in many other capacities, and was active in the LaDessa club.   She loved to garden and could grow anything from her compost pile. Her yard was brightened by many flowers including iris, roses and lilacs that she tended.   She and Marion were divorced in 1988, but she resided there until 1997 when she moved to St. George where she could enjoy her siblings and family who lived there. She was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, serving as Captain, Historian, Chaplain and a docent in the McQuarrie Memorial Museum.

In 2008, she moved to Pocatello to an assisted living where she had many friends and enjoyed being closer to family.   She enjoyed attending the LDS temple in Idaho Falls and visiting with her sister, Helen and husband while there.  She loved her many roses, and visiting her family and enjoying grandchildren.  She always remembered their birthdays and sent a $2 bill on the great grandchildren’s birthdays.

She was a beautiful seamstress, making drapes and curtains, and most of her clothes, as well as sewing clothing for her children and grandchildren, making all kinds of dolls and Care Bears.  She enjoyed playing her organ; was an avid reader and a member of several book clubs.  She made many needlepoint pictures and covers for piano benches and chairs.  She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing crewel embroidery.  She was a very talented lady and could do anything she put her mind to.  She made her daughter‘s wedding cake and was known for her delicious cakes and pies.  Watching Utah Jazz basketball was something she didn’t miss and she had favorites she cheered for.  The family spent time during the summer in their trailer at Palisades, and later enjoying the time at their “acre” in Island Park. November would find them at their condo in Sun Valley.

She had a deep testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and raised her children in the gospel filling them with a desire to work hard and become all they could be. She was a great example to her grandchildren as she shared her love of the gospel with them. She loved her siblings and was glad to live close to some of them when they moved to St. George. There are also many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends who enriched her life. Enduring to the end was not easy, but made it possible for her to live to see more treasures on her family tree. Rosie passed away at Emeritus at Ridgewind in Chubbuck, Idaho on January 27, 2015 at the age of 93.

She is survived by children, Marianne (Dennis) Hansen, Meridian, Idaho; John (Joni) Taylor of Pocatello, and Brian (Suzanne) Taylor of St. George, Utah.  She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, with 3 more coming soon, and 2  great-great grandchildren with 1 more on the way.  She is survived by her younger sister, Helen (Virgil) Hansen of Idaho Falls and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father when she was 13 years old, her mother, former husband Marion, and a great granddaughter, Elliott Warren.  Also, half-sister, Sabra Foremaster, siblings Owen “Al” Naegle,  Ione Moss, Anthony W. Naegle, George Z. Naegle, and Margaret Badger.

Graveside services will be held in St. George, Utah at 10 am on Tuesday, February 3 at the St. George City cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the LDS Missionary Fund, as she has 3 great-grandsons serving missions at this time.

The family would like thank the caregivers at Emeritus Ridgewind in Chubbuck and Encompass Hospice for the wonderful care shown to Mom during the last few years.   Arrangements made by Cornelison Funeral Home in Pocatello.
