Welcome to the memorial page for

Norma C. Davis

November 30, 1915 ~ May 1, 2016 (age 100) 100 Years Old
Norma Caroline Davis, 100, passed away on May 1, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born in Pocatello and was the daughter of immigrant parents who came from England in the early 1900s. Her mother, Ada Norman Townend, was from Manea and her father, Archer Townend, was from the Yorkshire area. Norma graduated from Pocatello High School in 1933 and was a student at University of Idaho Southern Branch (now Idaho State University) before her marriage to Vincent Davis on December 14, 1934. She and Vince met at a dance sponsored by the University. They were happily married for 69 years prior to Vince’s death in 2003. Norma was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge. At one time, she was a ranked player and a member of several bridge groups including her long term Monday evening games. She was also a proponent of health foods long before they became nationally prominent. Her dry sense of humor was always evident as she entertained family and friends. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake; her cakes and pies were blue ribbon worthy. The planning and organizational skills she developed were essential for the family’s numerous outings with their boat, trips Lava Hot Springs, camping trips to Red Fish Lake, picnics at Justice Park and other outdoor adventures. It’s been a great life, as Norma would often say. She lived a very loving and fulfilling life and was able to celebrate her 100th birthday with family and friends last November. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Townend and her sister Alma Adams (Ron). Norma is survived by her three children, Carolyn (Steve) Cox, Anacortes, Washington; Marilyn Davis, Vancouver, Washington, Jack (Eddy) Davis, Pocatello, and their sons JV and Jeff. The family would like to thank the staff at Caring Hearts for the kind and loving care they provided throughout Norma’s long-term illness. The family would also to thank the team of professionals at Portneuf Medical Center for the care they provided during the last days of her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Vincent G. and Norma C. Davis Family Endowment Scholarship fund or any other scholarship fund at ISU by contacting the Foundation office. Graveside service will be held Friday, May 6 at 11am in the Mountain View Cemetery (16 East), Pocatello. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542. Condolences at www.cornelisonfh.com
