Welcome to the memorial page for

Michael Jack Armstrong

November 20, 1950 ~ December 29, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years Old
Michael Jack Armstrong, of Pocatello passed away on December 29, 2017 from a sudden heart attack. Mike was 67 years old. From a young age Mike had a talent for working with his hands and built and created throughout his career. He loved life, and whether it was cruising around in his 53’ chevy, or the jeep, the road held adventure. As a member of many community organizations Mike had many friends and always had a hand up for a friend, and a good hunting story as well. He worked most of his life in construction in the northwest USA as well as in Alaska. He loved different and challenging projects, and loved the work as much as the time off after work. His tall lean frame lead him to be known to many as “Stringer”. He was an avid hunter, sportsman and trap shooter. Many of the best moments in life were spent under the trees and in the middle of the mountains. On one hunting trip to Montpelier with Alan and his sons, Mike shot an elk, and the snow was so deep that they had to crawl out and Mike broke trail and led the way, what a man!!! Several of his friends were life long, he never met a stranger, and it was his way to help out whenever he could. To many of us, he was the Marlboro Man, and to all he was a friend, and a listening ear, or a good dose of reality when needed. He was the youngest child of Jack and Mickey Armstrong, and is survived by his brother Ken and his sister Arleen, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. There will be a life celebration potluck held at the Elks Lodge at 410 S Main St, Pocatello, from 2:00-4:30 PM on January 13th 2018. According to Mike’s wishes the celebration is an informal gathering where people can celebrate the good times, and enjoy each other’s company. The family wishes to thank Mike’s friends and those close to him for the incredible outpouring of love and well wishes. We would also like to specially recognize Alan Dunkley and his family, and Lenny Freeman and her family, they have stood beside Mike throughout his life, and remain ever faithful and attentive in his death as well. They have been vital in helping the family with Mike’s final arrangements. We’ll miss you Mike, our lives won’t be the same without you.
