Lynne Ray Holladay

Lynne Ray Holladay, 84, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away peacefully at 4pm on Sunday, April 23 2017, after suffering a sudden stroke. His wife and children were by his side. Lynne was born on June 18, 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho to Norman C. & Verna Reddish Holladay. He married Darlene Alice Olson on February 13, 1953 in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity. He served in the US Army from 1953-1955 in occupied Germany. He graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelors in Business, minor in Architecture and Education. He worked as a Contractor, School Teacher, Business Manager and Architect. He retired as an Area Architect / Project Manager for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1997. In his retirement years he served three (3) full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ghana (Africa), Majuro (Marshall Islands) and Nigeria (Africa). He loved to play golf, tennis, handball, fish, hunt and ski (snow & water). In high school he lettered in football, basketball and track. After high school he played baseball and coached basketball. Lynne was active in several capacities at church, serving in leadership positions and Scouting. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Alice Olson Holladay, his children: Susan Cote (Broc), Doug Holladay (Lisa), Sandra Holladay and Allyson Stavron (Scott); Brothers: Jean Holladay (Lorraine) and Bruce Holladay; Brother-in-laws: Dale Olson (Chris) and Darold Olson (Carolyn); Grandchildren: Josh Cote (Kelly), Jill Preston (Cory), Shawn Holladay, Kristen Brown (Cody), Jared Peck (Katelyn), Holly Cook (Will), Noel Mortensen (Alex) and Alex Stavron; Great Grandchildren: River, Abigail, Colin, Tessa, Toby, Taylor, Hudson and Eliana; and one Great-Great Grandchild, Lucas. He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother Jayson Holladay. Funeral services will be held in Georgia and Idaho, with final burial in Pocatello, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missionary fund at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (lds.org) or to the American Diabetes Association.
Georgia services: Viewing at Tom Wages Funeral Home on Hwy 78 in Snellville on Friday, April 28th from 6-8pm. Funeral will be on Saturday, April 29th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 3950 Mink Livsey Rd., Snellville at 1pm. Mr. Holladay will lie in state from 12-1pm in the Relief Society Room prior.
Idaho services: Family will receive friends from 11am – 1pm Saturday, May 6th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 8200 West Portneuf Road, Pocatello, ID 83204. Funeral services will begin at 1pm and a Graveside service will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
