Garry was born January 4, 1947 in Nampa, Idaho to Robert and Cleda (Stewart) Farrar who proceeded him in death. Garry was also proceeded in death by four siblings Juanita, Evelyn, “Bobby” Gene and Thomasine. He is survived by his sister Julie Raney, his wife Nikki (Gowin) Farrar, his son Rodney (wife Samantha) and 2 grandsons.
Garry grew up in Nampa and attended schools there. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 and served in Vietnam receiving an honorable discharge in 1967 where he had earned a Purple heart. He married Shirley Miller, divorced then married Jolene, who is the mother of his only son. Later he married Dee and then Elaine Brewer, neither marriages lasted long. In 1992, he met Nikki Rene Gowin. They remained together and got married in 2000, then moved to Pocatello and have resided there since. Garry has been step dad to her four children Crispin “Shawn” Archibald(wife Kristi), Heather Greer (husband Dave, deceased), Ryan Archibald (wife Charity), Whitney Gowin (fiancé Zayne Petty). and 9 step Grandchildren.
Over the years Garry owned several horses, one named “Sundance” that he had a special bond with. He worked on ranches, sold used cars, crushed cars, and drove long haul truck. He was known by his cb handle “Midnight Cowboy”. After retiring he enjoyed rebuilding cars, bicycles and riding his motorcycles.
Garry passed away of medical conditions in his home on January 13, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be Thurdsay, January 18, at 4 pm in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, with military rites, where family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will be in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa, Idaho, Friday at 1 pm. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.cornelisonfh.com
