Welcome to the memorial page for

Frances Geraldine 'Deanie' Uehling

March 19, 1940 ~ January 24, 2015 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Geraldine (Deanie) as she was known passed away Jan 24, 2015 at Pocatello, ID Deanie was born March 19, 1940 at Dietrich, Idaho to Francis Knud Larson and LaVaughn Grunig Larson. As a baby she lived in several places, because her dad was section foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad. Before starting school they settled down in Weiser, Idaho. She attended school in Weiser until the senior year in high school. Deanie liked grade school, but hated high school and thought lunch period was the best part of the day.
Deanie and her dad enjoyed rodeos and were members of the Indian Head Saddle Club for years. In 1955 she was runner-up to the queen contest for the Weiser rodeo. She could ride a horse, as if she was a part of it.
February 11, 1957 Deanie and Harold Uehling eloped to Reno, Nevada and were married by Rev. Steven C Thomas in the Methodist Church. Then their vows were repeated on our 25th Anniversary and again on our 40th Anniversary aboard a cruise ship cruising the islands. They have been very happily married for 57 years and 354 days, just 11 days short of 58 years.

Deanie is survived by her husband, Harold and two sons, Jerry (Gretchen), Chubbuck, Idaho and Randy (Melissa), Idaho Falls, also three step sons, Michael (Barbara) Virginia Beach, VA., Jon (Karen) and David (Susan) Boise, Idaho, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Deanie was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, her only sister and only brother, and a step-daughter

Deanie was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran church in Rupert, Id. on May 8,1962 and has been a true Christian ever since.

Her favorite flowers were daffodils and roses. She has always said she didn’t want a lot of flowers for her funeral and somewhere a long time ago found this little ditty in a news paper,

"I would rather have a little rose from the garden of a friend, than flowers strewn around my casket when my days on earth must end.
I would rather have a living smile from one I know is true, than tears shed 'round my casket when this world I bid adieu.

Bring me all the flowers today whether pink or white or red

I would rather have one blossom now than a truckload when I am dead."

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11 am in the Cornelison Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Barry Malone, conducting. where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday evening and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello. In lieu of flowers Deanie would prefer a tax deductible donation to the Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund, 856 W. Eldredge St., Pocatello  83201 or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello, 232-0542.
